AP JAC Formally Suspends Stir After CM’s Assurances
The JAC welcomed measures, such as the appointment of a PRC commissioner, release of two DAs, restoration of additional pension for retirees, sanction of surrender leaves, and continuation of the employees’ health cards
VIJAYAWADA: The state-level executive of Andhra Pradesh Joint Action Committee (AP JAC), Amaravati, and its women’s wing met at the Revenue Bhavan in Vijayawada under the chairmanship of Bopparaju Venkateswarlu.
The meeting had been called to review Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s announcements with regard to the employees’ demands. Post deliberations, the meeting resolved to temporarily suspend the agitation by employees.
The JAC welcomed measures, such as the appointment of a PRC commissioner, release of two DAs, restoration of additional pension for retirees, sanction of surrender leaves, and continuation of the employees’ health cards.
However, the leaders expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of clarity on interim relief (IR), arrears, increments for village/ward secretariat staff, and issues related to outsourced employees.
The leaders said they are postponing their agitation, honouring the CM’s assurance that IR would be announced soon. The JAC requested the state government to publish a roadmap for arrears payment and ensure the PRC report is submitted within six months. It also demanded speedy resolution of 30 pending issues through the Group of Ministers.
The JAC leaders said district-level meetings will be held on September 8 to celebrate the announcements made by the government. However, they warned that if the promised announcements are not implemented, they will resume their agitation to safeguard the employees’ rights.
