VMC Steps Up Monsoon Response as Rain Lashes Vijayawada
Officials said waterlogging was cleared soon after the rains subsided.
Vijayawada:The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) activated its Monsoon Response Team after rains lashed the city on Sunday afternoon, deploying machinery and manpower to clear waterlogging in vulnerable areas.
On the instructions of commissioner H.M. Dhyanachandra, zonal commissioners, departmental heads, engineering staff and sanitation workers inspected affected localities. Airtech machines were used to drain stagnant water on key stretches including Pinnamaneni Polyclinic Road, Labbipet, Bridge area, Nirmala Convent Road and Bandar Road to prevent traffic disruptions and hardships for pedestrians and residents.
Officials said waterlogging was cleared soon after the rains subsided. Monsoon Response Teams have been kept on high alert, with equipment stationed at strategic points to tackle emergencies.
