AP JAC Amaravati Warns Agitation Over Dues
He alleged that the government was subjecting employees to severe work pressure in the name of rankings and performance monitoring without providing corresponding financial relief.
Nellore: AP JAC Amaravati chairman Bopparaju Venkateswarlu on Wednesday called upon government employees across Andhra Pradesh to prepare for an agitation, alleging that apart from receiving salaries on time, employees have been denied several financial benefits due to them for years.
Addressing a meeting of district and divisional-level leaders of various employees' associations in Nellore, Bopparaju said government staff were facing increasing financial strain due to rising prices and mounting EMI burdens, while key service-related benefits remained pending. He alleged that the government was subjecting employees to severe work pressure in the name of rankings and performance monitoring without providing corresponding financial relief.
Speaking at a press conference later, Bopparaju asserted that government employees should not be viewed as a burden on the state exchequer but as the backbone of the administration. He said employees were not demanding bonuses but were seeking the release of legitimate dues, including pending dearness allowances (DAs), interim relief (IR), and the constitution of a Pay Revision Commission (PRC), which he noted was overdue by more than three years.
He questioned the government's delay in implementing promises made in the coalition manifesto regarding employee welfare and alleged that no DA had been released since the present government assumed office. The AP JAC, he said, had already begun consultations with employees' associations across all 28 districts and was mobilising support for a statewide movement.
AP JAC Amaravati Agitation Committee chairman T.V. Phani Perraju echoed the concerns, stating that the government had failed to provide clarity on pending financial issues affecting employees and pensioners. He said the organisation was preparing to announce an action plan to safeguard employee interests.
AP JAC Amaravati Nellore district chairman Allampati Penchala Reddy said employees in the district were fully prepared to participate in the proposed agitation and pledged support for any programme announced by the state leadership.
Several leaders from affiliated employees', engineers', revenue, outsourcing and data-entry operators' associations attended the meeting.
