AP JAC-Amaravati Launches Protest Over Pending Dues
AP JAC-Amaravati began a statewide protest over pending dues and demands, with government employees and pensioners wearing black badges from September 1 to 5.
The AP JAC-Amaravati on Tuesday launched the first phase of its agitation seeking settlement of pending dues and other long-pending demands of government employees, teachers and pensioners, with employees wearing black badges while attending duty across the state.
As part of the protest, employees also displayed the slogan “CM Sir... Give us our money” as their WhatsApp profile pictures and status messages.
The black-badge protest will continue from September 1 to 5 at village secretariats, government schools, tahsildar and municipal offices, RTC depots, veterinary and other departmental offices, RDO offices and district Collectorates.
JAC-Amaravati chairman Bopparaju Venkateswarlu and secretary-general Palishetti Damodara Rao said the organisation would conduct a “Join Hands” campaign from September 2 to 8 by visiting district and divisional offices and explaining the reasons for the agitation to employees.
Lunch-hour demonstrations will be held at district and divisional offices on September 3 and 5. Round-table meetings will be organised in Vijayawada and all district headquarters on September 11, bringing together trade unions and employee associations to discuss the issues and mobilise support.
The JAC leaders said employees were awaiting PRC benefits, DA, interim relief and other arrears. They also sought restoration of the additional quantum of pension for retired employees and better salaries and welfare benefits for outsourcing staff.
They said the government had held talks with employee unions on July 22 but had delayed decisions for nearly 40 days. The JAC appealed to employees to participate voluntarily, irrespective of union affiliations, and warned that the agitation could intensify if the government failed to respond positively.
