Puttaparthi: IT and Human Resources Development Minister Nara Lokesh on Friday reiterated the Andhra Pradesh Government’s commitment to establish a High Court Bench in Kurnool, as promised. He was speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony for the Rs 16,000-crore Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) infrastructure project in Sri Sathya Sai district, where he mentioned the promise.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation for the AMCA infrastructure project, which also includes defence and drone city initiatives. The project is expected to generate more than 7,500 jobs in the region.

The demand for a High Court Bench in Kurnool has gained momentum. Earlier, a BJP Legal Cell delegation met Union Law & Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and requested approval for a High Court Bench in Kurnool, along with Benches of the National Green Tribunal and Debt Recovery Appellate Tribunal in Andhra Pradesh. They also sought the implementation of various advocate welfare schemes. The TDP-led government has maintained that setting up the bench would strengthen the judicial system in the Rayalaseema region and decentralize justice delivery in the state.
