VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh government's ambitious Land Resurvey 2.0 programme has entered its fifth phase covering 1,343 villages. Nearly 2,800 survey teams with advanced equipment are participating in the exercise, Survey, Settlement, and Land Records director Ronanki Kurmanath said on Saturday.

During the first four phases, the resurvey has been completed in 3,750 villages across the state.
Land Resurvey 2.0 is being conducted throughout Andhra Pradesh to rectify shortcomings noticed during the previous survey. These include errors in fixing land boundaries and issues relating to joint LP (land parcel) numbers. The resurvey is aimed at finding a permanent solution to land-related disputes in the state.

Kurmanath, accompanied by revenue and survey officials conducted a surprise inspection of the ongoing resurvey works at the Kanchikacherla village in Kanchikacherla mandal and Somavaram village in Nandigama mandal of NTR district. He expressed satisfaction over the survey being conducted transparently and in the presence of landowning farmers.

The director instructed officials to notify farmers before commencing the survey. The exercise must be carried out in the presence of the landowner or a family member, along with the mandatory e-KYC. He wanted officials to verify land records after the survey, finalise boundaries in the presence of farmers, and keep them informed at every stage until corrected pattadar passbooks with accurate measurements are issued to them.

Kurmanath said complementing the resurvey in the presence of farmers would prevent future disputes and enhance their confidence in the process. He said the government aims to make Andhra Pradesh a land dispute-free state by March 2027 through coordinated efforts of the Survey and Revenue departments.

Those involved in the resurvey included district surveyor Y. Mohana Rao, survey inspectors J. Basava Rao and Sambasiva Rao, mandal surveyor Narendra, revenue and survey officials, and landowners.
