AP Gets D2M Technology Feature Phone

Andhra Pradesh is poised to become the first Indian state to adopt Direct-to-Mobile (D2M) technology, a groundbreaking innovation that delivers live TV, internet, and communication services without the need for internet, WiFi, or SIM cards. IT Minister Nara Lokesh held successful talks with Eric Shin, the CEO of Korea's Khush Tech and the pioneer of D2M technology. Lokesh invited the company to set up a manufacturing unit for D2M-enabled feature phones and tablets in AP, particularly to benefit remote and underserved regions.

D2M devices, developed with support from IIT Kanpur, Prasar Bharati, and the Department of Telecommunications, promise to revolutionize connectivity in rural, tribal, and forest areas. Lokesh assured the company of full government support, including land, infrastructure, and single-window clearances. He emphasized that these devices would help deliver government services, disaster alerts, and educational content directly to citizens, even in no-network zones.
With the leadership of CM Chandrababu Naidu and the dynamic execution of Minister Lokesh, Andhra Pradesh is taking a giant leap towards digital inclusivity and tech-driven governance.
Lokesh met Eric Shin's team, Jung Hoon Kim, Sarin Suvarna, Shashi Doppalapudi, and Sagar Doddapaneni.

Lokesh was shown a sample of a feature phone and tab that works with the help of this technology. Lokesh, who saw the D2M Technology feature phone and tab, congratulated Eric Shin and his team. Lokesh believes that if these phones and tabs become available, the lives of the poor will change.
