AP Gears Up to Deal With Seasonal, Infectious Diseases

Andhra Pradesh has deployed rapid response teams and specialist doctors to strengthen preparedness against seasonal and infectious disease outbreaks.

 The Andhra Pradesh government has geared up its machinery to deal with seasonal and infectious diseases by initiating a series of steps like setting up of rapid response teams and fielding specialist doctors.

The directorate of medical education has started setting up state-level RRTs involving specialists from community medicine, microbiology and general medicine in every teaching hospital so that they could reach the trouble areas in just a few hours.

The RRTs will reach the troubled places, identify people suffering with health issues, find out reasons for outbreak of diseases, collect samples of blood and send them for testing to the lab.

The DME also called for roping in specialist doctors dealing with lungs and children, anesthesia, critical care and others. They would identify the disease at the early stage and provide medical treatment immediately.
