Vijayawada: The Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) has postponed the reopening of junior colleges in Andhra Pradesh for the academic year 2026-27 to June 6 from the earlier scheduled date of June 1.

In a statement issued here on Friday, BIE secretary P. Ranjit Basha said the decision was taken as the Intermediate Public Advanced Supplementary Examinations 2026 are scheduled to continue till June 5.

He said college premises are being utilised for conduct of examinations and deployment of staff for examination-related work, necessitating a partial modification of the annual academic calendar for 2026-27.

The revised reopening date will apply to all government, aided, private unaided, cooperative junior colleges and composite degree colleges offering Intermediate courses across the state.
