AP Development, Polavaram To Top Agenda At BJP State Executive
Andhra Pradesh’s development, investments and irrigation projects, particularly Polavaram, are expected to dominate the BJP’s extended State executive meeting in Visakhapatnam.
Andhra Pradesh’s development, investments and the completion of irrigation projects, particularly Polavaram, are likely to top the agenda of the BJP’s extended State executive meeting to be held in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.
The meeting will be presided over by the party’s national president, Nitin Nabin, who is visiting the State for the first time after assuming office.
State BJP president P.V.N. Madhav told reporters that a resolution would be passed highlighting the development achieved in Andhra Pradesh under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, with particular focus on investments and development assistance received from the Centre.
The BJP is expected to present this as evidence of the benefits of the “double-engine government” and the proposed “triple-engine growth” model in the State.
He said the second resolution would call for expediting irrigation projects, with particular emphasis on Polavaram.
“We have directed the cadre to publicise the Centre’s commitment to fully finance Polavaram,” Madhav said.
Other issues likely to figure in the deliberations include grassroots expansion and the local body elections, which will form an important part of the organisational agenda. Madhav said he had already asked BJP workers to prepare for the local body elections and ensure a 100% victory for the NDA, while strengthening the party’s presence in villages and urban wards.
The meeting is also likely to discuss Rayalaseema industrial corridors, Central investments and infrastructure projects in Andhra Pradesh.
The meeting will bring together State and district-level leaders, including State office-bearers, district presidents, mandal in-charges, Union and State ministers, MPs and MLAs.
An exhibition will also be organised on August 18, showcasing the BJP’s organisational structure, its activities in different districts and the work of its seven morchas.
Nabin will also interact with about 250 selected youngsters below the age of 25, including young lawyers, doctors, entrepreneurs and sportspersons.
