Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Counter Intelligence (AP CI) Cell has busted an alleged espionage module involving 18 suspects, including 13 naval personnel, for their suspected links with Pakistan Intelligence Operatives (PIOs) and sharing sensitive information relating to defence establishments and strategic locations.
The operation, code-named “Operation Firewall–2026”, was conducted on October 1 as part of a continuing investigation into an alleged espionage conspiracy prejudicial to national security.
Twelve AP CI Cell teams were deployed across 10 States and Union Territories — Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Goa, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh and Bihar — in coordination with the respective ATS units, Naval officials and local police.
