Tirupati/Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government has announced compensation of Rs. 50 lakh each for the families of the five workers who died in a water boiler blast at a private company in Sri City SEZ in Satyavedu Mandal in Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati district on Saturday morning.
The private industry and the government have decided to provide compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the families of the deceased, Tirupati Collector Dr S Venkateswar said. Sri City SEZ would also bear the higher education expenses of the victims’ children and provide employment opportunities to eligible family members, the Collector added.
"The boiler inspector has been kept under suspension with immediate effect. A case has been registered against TIL, and further investigation is underway. The main reason is water deprivation, as per the preliminary information from the boiler inspector," said the district collector.

While the further probe is underway into the incident, the Collector also said that precautionary measures were being taken in other industries of the Sri City industrial zone.
Two workers died at the site, while three others succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment. It is reported that around 10 workers were injured in the incident at the TIL Healthcare formulations facility in Sri City.
