Vijayawada: BJP state spokesperson Sadineni Yamini Sharma on Wednesday welcomed the centre’s decision to initiate stringent measures against illegal infiltration and “unnatural demographic changes,” stating that the move would strengthen national security and social stability.

She praised the Narendra Modi government for constituting a high-level committee under Justice Navalekar in this regard, saying it reflected the centre’s commitment of placing national interest above politics.

Yamini Sharma charged that vote-bank politics over several decades has encouraged illegal migration, leading to security threats, demographic imbalance, border infiltration, and growth of fake document rackets in some states.

Referring to the remarks of union Home minister Amit Shah, the BJP spokesperson pointed out that illegal infiltration is not confined to one state but poses a challenge to the entire country’s future.

“Protecting citizens’ rights, employment opportunities, resources, and social balance is the responsibility of every government,” she maintained.

Yamini Sharma said the Modi government has taken several historic decisions during the past 12 years, including strengthening border security and tightening action against terrorism and illegal infiltration.
