NELLORE: Devotees at Tirumala will have two opportunities to witness the Garuda Seva of Sri Malayappa Swamy this month, with the processions scheduled for August 17 and 28.
The first Garuda Seva will be held on Garuda Panchami on Monday. Sri Malayappa Swamy will be taken in a procession on the Garuda Vahanam along the four Mada streets from 7 pm to 9 pm.
The second Garuda Seva is scheduled for Sravana Pournami on August 28, when the deity will again be taken in procession between 7 pm and 9 pm.
The August 28 procession will also serve as the annual trial run ahead of the Srivari Salakatla Brahmotsavams, scheduled from September 15 to 23. TTD officials will inspect arrangements and facilities for devotees and review engineering works along the four Mada streets as part of preparations for the Brahmotsavams.
Garuda Panchami is observed annually at Tirumala, with newly married couples traditionally offering prayers for a happy married life and women seeking blessings for children with strength and virtue.
