Andhra Pradesh: SIR Survey Identifies 2.88 Lakh Uncollectable Voters In Tirupati

The door-to-door verification concluded on Friday, and the Election Commission released the official figures on Saturday.

According to the data, 2,87,835 voters out of the district's total electorate of 17,69,438 have been classified as “uncollectable,” accounting for 16.27 per cemt of the electorate. The reason could be death, permanent migration, absence from the listed address or duplicate entries in the electoral rolls.

The figures have once again brought attention to the 2021 Tirupati Lok Sabha by-election, during which parties had alleged that fake voters were added to the electoral rolls. They had claimed that fake voter identity cards were created and voters ferried from neighbouring districts to cast their votes.

The SIR has revived those allegations in political circles, particularly because the Tirupati assembly constituency recorded the highest number of “uncollectable” voters in the district.

In the Tirupati assembly constituency, officials identified 90,882 uncollectable voters out of 2,95,288 registered voters, accounting for 30.77 per cent of the electorate. This is the highest among the seven assembly segments in the district.

Chandragiri recorded 50,273 uncollectable voters, followed by Venkatagiri - 36,505, Srikalahasti - 32,836, Sullurpeta - 27,946, Railway Koduru - 26, 048.and Satyavedu - 23,345.

The digitisation exercise showed that details of 14,81,603 voters were mapped in the district. Of them, 6,06,261 voters completed mapping using proof that they had voting rights in 2002, while 7,13,004 used details of their parents or grandparents. Another 1,62,340 voters did not complete the mapping process, accounting for 9.17 per cent of the district's electorate.

The constituency-wise breakup of the uncollectable list shows that Sullurpeta had 10,191 deceased voters, 4,530 voters not found at the given address, 9,435 permanent migrants, 3,785 duplicate entries and five others.

Venkatagiri reported 12,601 deceased voters, 7,013 were not found at the address, 11,559 were cited as permanent migrants, 5,180 names as duplicate entries and 152 ‘others’. Railway Koduru recorded 9,668 deceased voters, 5,140 ‘not found’, 6,966 permanent migrants, 4,215 duplicate entries and 59 others.

Chandragiri had 7,598 deceased voters, 19,309 voters ‘not found’ at the given address, 16,738 permanent migrants, 6,246 duplicate entries and 382 others. Tirupati constituency reported 5,969 deceased voters, 20,527 ‘voters not found’, 57,256 permanent migrants, 6,349 duplicate entries and 781 others.

Srikalahasti recorded 9,144 deceased voters, 6,015 not found, 14,281 permanent migrants, 3,357 duplicate entries and 39 ‘others’, while Satyavedu reported 8,326 deceased voters, 3,731 not found, 8,563 permanent migrants, 2,551 duplicate entries and 174 ‘others’.
