VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vivek Yadav on Saturday directed officials to conduct the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls transparently and strictly in accordance with the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines.

During a field inspection in Vijayawada Urban, the CEO visited polling stations 208 and 217 in Chittinagar and Kamsalipeta to review the progress of the revision exercise. He was accompanied by Vijayawada Municipal Corporation commissioner and deputy district electoral officer Dhyanachandra H.M.

Yadav reviewed voter mapping based on the previous SIR, the distribution and collection of enumeration forms, and the digitisation of the data collected. He examined the procedures being followed to ensure the revision exercise was carried out efficiently and in compliance with ECI norms.

The CEO also inspected the Assembly constituency-level control room and interacted with officials and staff on the services being provided. He held discussions with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) on the implementation of the revision process, the challenges faced and the progress achieved.

Appreciating the efforts of the field staff, Yadav asked BLOs to assist voters and discharge their responsibilities diligently. He said updating and purifying the electoral rolls was essential for strengthening the democratic process and that BLOs played a key role in ensuring the inclusion of all eligible voters through a transparent and error-free revision exercise.

Electoral registration officer for Vijayawada West Assembly constituency A. Ravindra Rao, assistant electoral registration officers N. Srinivasa Rao, D. Harish, G. Srujana, Chandrabose and Ismail, along with other officials, participated in the inspection.
