Andhra Pradesh: Rayalaseema Reeling Under Summer-Like Heat, Temperatures Near 40°C
High temperatures in September have raised concerns among farmers and residents, particularly in the drought-prone Rayalaseema: Reports
ANANTAPUR: Rayalaseema experienced summer-like heat on Tuesday, with maximum temperatures nearing 40°C in several parts of the region. Kalyandurg in Anantapur district recorded the highest temperature of 39.9°C, while several mandals in Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai, Kurnool, and Nandyal districts witnessed temperatures above 38°C.
In Anantapur district, Yellanur recorded 39.1°C, followed by Tadipatri at 38.9°C, and Anantapur Urban at 38.8°C. Putlur witnessed 38.2°C and Singanamala 38.1°C. Atmakur, Bukkarayasamudram, Vidapanakal, and Gummagatta recorded 37.4°C, 37.2°C, 36.7°C, and 36.5°C respectively.
In Sri Sathya Sai district, Talupula recorded 38.8°C and Bukkapatnam 38.7°C. Kadiri witnessed 38.4°C, while Tanakal and Tadimarri recorded 38.3°C and 37.8°C respectively.
Kothacheruvu and Dharmavaram recorded 37.7°C and 37.3°C. In Kurnool district, Kallur recorded 38.6°C and Kurnool Rural 38.5°C.
Mantralayam witnessed 38.3°C, while Veldurthy and Kurnool Urban recorded 37.8°C each. Kodumur and Gudur witnessed 37.5°C.
Nandyal district too experienced high temperatures, with Pagidyala recording 39.4°C, Uyyalawada and Sanjamala 39.1°C each, and Owk 39°C. Banaganapalli and Ruddavaram witnessed 38.9°C and 38.8°C respectively.
High temperatures in September have raised concerns among farmers and residents, particularly in the drought-prone Rayalaseema. Deficient rainfall, dry conditions, and persistent heat are adding to stress on agriculture, livestock, and water resources.
Rekulakunta weather station scientist Dr. Narayana Swamy said the adverse impact of El Nino is causing concern. They are closely monitoring the weather conditions, as any further rise in temperatures could have an adverse impact.
