Andhra Pradesh: Panipuri Seller, 7 Youths Held In Separate Drug Busts

VIJAYAWADA: Police stepped up their anti-narcotics drive with two separate operations in Vijayawada and the Guntur district, arresting a panipuri seller allegedly dealing in opium and seven youths caught consuming ganja.
In Vijayawada, Patamata police arrested Mukesh Jat, a native of Rajasthan who runs a panipuri pushcart on High Tension Road, and seized 650 grams of opium from his possession. Acting on a tip-off, a team led by circle inspector V. Pavan Kishore intercepted him near Bharati Nagar and recovered the contraband packed in two polythene packets. Police alleged that Mukesh was selling opium while operating his food cart. A case has been registered under Sections 8(c) read with 18(c) of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is on.
In Guntur district, Tadepalli police arrested seven youths aged between 19 and 23 for allegedly consuming ganja near Sri Srinivasa Bar and Restaurant at Nulakapeta. The police seized 70 grams of ganja and registered Crime No. 462/2026 under Sections 8 and 20(b)(ii)(A) of the NDPS Act.
During questioning, the accused allegedly confessed to purchasing the ganja from Keshav of Yerrabalem village in Mangalagiri mandal. Police launched efforts to trace and arrest the supplier. Two of the accused were found to have previous criminal cases, including NDPS and extortion offences.
The operation was conducted under the directions of Guntur SP Vakul Jindal and the supervision of Mangalagiri North DSP Ch Murali Krishna. The SP commended the Tadepalli police team for the successful raid.
