Andhra Pradesh: Lightning Strike Kills Two Women, Injures Four

VISAKHAPATNAM: Two women were killed and four others seriously injured after lightning struck agricultural fields at Pedango, a tribal hamlet under Budarasingi panchayat in Mandasa mandal of Srikakulam district on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Katta Samudri of Pedango and Savara Jora of Pathakota. They were among a group of agriculture labourers engaged in kharif agricultural work when heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning lashed the area.
The lightning struck the field, leaving several workers injured. Samudri and Jora were found unconscious by fellow workers who rushed to help. Four other women Majji Devika, Katta Sushmita, Kumar Neelavati and Boya Karimi also suffered serious injuries.
Samudri dead on the spot. The injured were shifted to the Haripuram Community Health Centre, where Jora later succumbed to her injuries.

According to an APSDMA report, 53 people have died in lightning strikes in the state so far this year, with Vizianagaram recording the highest number of deaths at 11.
