VISAKHAPATNAM: GMR Institute of Technology (deemed to be a university) in Rajam achieved remarkable success at the intercollegiate sports meet hosted by AITAM College in Tekkali. The event featured over 400 students and 300 staff members from across Andhra Pradesh.
The GMRIT staff team emerged as champions in men’s volleyball and women’s throwball and secured the runners-up position in men’s cricket. Their performance was praised for demonstrating exceptional talent, teamwork, and sporting spirit.
Prizes were awarded by former BCCI chief national selector M.S.K. Prasad, who congratulated the winners and applauded their discipline and sportsmanship. The GMRIT management also recognised the players and the department of physical education for bringing honour to the institution.
Management noted that these achievements reaffirm GMRIT’s commitment to fostering excellence in sports alongside academics, thereby strengthening its reputation as a centre for holistic development for students and staff alike.
