Anakapalli Residents Await Completion of B.N. Road Project
Another issue discussed was the status of non-scheduled tribal families who have been cultivating land for generations without recognition in revenue records
Visakhapatnam: The long-pending B.N. Road project in Anakapalli district has remained incomplete despite assurances made nearly two years ago, drawing criticism from local residents and political activists.
Speaking at the general body meeting of the CPM's Rolugunta unit at Kothakota village in Ravikamatham mandal, CPM district secretary G. Koteswara Rao alleged that elected representatives had failed to fulfil key election promises, including the protection of the Chodavaram Sugar Factory and completion of the B.N. Road.
He said residents of Pottidarupalem, Garnikam and Medivada villages continue to face difficulties as road works remain unfinished. According to him, gravel and crushed stone were laid in some stretches, but the project has not progressed further, resulting in dust pollution and waterlogged potholes.
Rao alleged that stagnant water in the potholes had created hazardous conditions for commuters. He announced that the CPM would organise a public protest to highlight the issue.
The meeting also raised concerns over the absence of a designated dumping yard in Ravikamatham despite the government's monthly “Swachh Andhra, Swarnandhra” cleanliness drives.
Another issue discussed was the status of non-scheduled tribal families who have been cultivating land for generations without recognition in revenue records. CPM leaders said they would continue their efforts to secure land rights for such families.
The meeting was presided over by E. Chiranjeevi and attended by CPM district executive committee members K. Govinda Rao, Gemila Vasu, Kilo Narasayya and others.
