Visakhapatnam:  Anakapalli police launched a road safety initiative titled “Stop – Face Wash & Go” to prevent accidents caused by driver fatigue during night travel.

The programme was conducted on the national highway under the guidance of Superintendent of police Tuhin Sinha and the supervision of Parawada inspector Mallikarjuna Rao. Police personnel advised long-distance drivers to halt periodically, take adequate rest, wash their faces and resume their journey only after ensuring they are alert.

Officials said fatigue and drowsiness are among the major causes of road accidents during late-night travel and urged motorists to prioritise safety over speed.

As part of the drive, vehicle inspections were also carried out at the Anakapalli Four Roads Junction. Police educated motorists on traffic regulations and cautioned against driving while tired.

Officials said such awareness and enforcement programmes would continue regularly to improve road safety. The initiative received a positive response from motorists, who appreciated the effort to reduce accident risks on highways.
