Ambati Writes to SIT Chief, Raises Concerns Over Sai Krishna Custodial Death Probe
Rambabu also alleged negligence in the handling of CCTV footage, questioning why footage available with the technical wing had not been seized.
Vijayawada:YSRC senior leader and former minister Ambati Rambabu has written to Special Investigation Team (SIT) chief and inspector general M. Ravi Prakash, raising concerns over the investigation into the custodial death of Gade Sai Krishna at Krishnalanka police station.
In his letter issued on Monday, Rambabu questioned the accountability of police officials involved in the case. He said the remand report did not clearly explain how the alleged murder took place, who transported the body or who was responsible for disposing of it. He contended that although the report referred to the involvement of the Task Force, Krishnalanka police station personnel and senior police officers, criminal liability had been confined to suspended Circle Inspector Naga Raju.
Rambabu also alleged negligence in the handling of CCTV footage, questioning why footage available with the technical wing had not been seized. Referring to reports that CCTV footage from the Krishnalanka police station had gone missing, he sought to know who was responsible.
He further criticised the SIT for allegedly failing to examine the mobile phones, messages, call records and other electronic communications of the circle inspector and other police personnel, stating that these could have helped uncover a larger conspiracy.
The former minister also questioned why the SIT had not examined footage from the Vijayawada Matrix Surveillance System, alleging that it could have helped establish how Sai Krishna was transported and trace the movement of the body.
