Amaravati Capital Works Gain Momentum
The collector advised the mines department to expedite processing of new quarry lease applications while reviewing the existing leases.
Vijayawada: The district authorities have called for urgent coordination among key government departments to ensure uninterrupted supply of construction materials for the Amaravati capital city project.
During a committee meeting held on Wednesday at the NTR District Collectorate, officials from the mines, revenue, forest, environment departments and the Capital Region Development Authority discussed strategies for speeding up infrastructure development in the capital.
District collector Lakshmisha, who chaired the meeting, explained that the construction works were proceeding with international standards and environmentally conscious designs. However, he stressed the critical need to prevent any shortages of essential materials like gravel.
“Since the development of the Amaravati capital city is a crucial project, all departments need to work in coordination," the collector said, directing officials to treat the matter as a top priority.
The collector advised the mines department to expedite processing of new quarry lease applications while reviewing the existing leases. He ordered joint inspections involving the revenue and forest teams and insisted that all operations maintain strict transparency and accountability.
He highlighted the role of revenue, forest and PCB officials in issuing necessary NOCs that are essential for project progression. Development must proceed in full compliance with government policies, environmental regulations, and legal frameworks, he stressed.
