All Major Hotels Booked to Capacity for Modi’s Visit to Amaravati Today
With full occupancy, new hotel proposals, and industry status benefits, Amaravati’s hospitality sector sees revival ahead of capital relaunch on May 2.
Vijayawada: All the major hotels with a capacity of nearly 2,000 rooms have been packed to the capacity in the city in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to relaunch capital city Amaravati works on May 2.
Around 400 rooms have been booked in star hotels alone for the visit of VVIPs. The hoteliers are happy over the rise in occupancy in hotels as the TD led alliance government after assuming power, has been organising a series of events.
Meanwhile, as many as 17 applications have been received by the capital region development authorities to set up star hotels in the capital city Amaravati so far. They are all looking for resumption of construction works like official residential quarters to the IAS officers and the judges of the AP High Court and other structures so that they too will start construction of multi-storied buildings to accommodate the star hotels.
As the state government has accorded industry status to the hospitality sector, the new related projects in Amaravati will get multiple benefits in the form of reduction in power tariff and property tax, sanction of bank loans and other benefits. Moreover, the setting up of a single window system to give clearances expeditiously will also give a major boost to launch and complete the projects quickly in the hospitality sector.
The recent decision of state government to reduce the non-refundable registration charge for the bars set up in 3-star and above hotels to Rs 20 lakh from the existing charge of Rs 66.55 lakh while keeping the licence fee of Rs 5 lakh to remain unchanged and the new charges coming into effect from September 1, is expected to give a major boost again to the hospitality sector with guzzlers preferring to consume liquor in bars of classified hotels by getting liquor relatively at low price when compared with previous price.
AP Hotels Association president R.V. Swamy said, “All the rooms in major hotels have been booked to the capacity for the Amaravati event, giving industry status to hospitality sector and reduction in non-refundable registration charges for bars in star hotels are expected to give a major boost in revenue to the hospitality sector in the state.”
