VIJAYAWADA: In a push towards technology-driven policing, the state police on Wednesday launched the pilot implementation of Project AI4AP Police, an integrated artificial intelligence ecosystem designed to transform law enforcement across the state.

The project was inaugurated by DGP Harish Gupta for Chittoor, Guntur and Annamayya districts.

The DGP urged unit officers to actively train personnel and personally supervise AI adoption, asserting that AI4AP Police has immense potential to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making.

He said the initiative would significantly reduce investigation timelines, improve the quality of investigations, enhance conviction rates and boost citizen satisfaction. Built on a secure AI foundation with CCTNS integration, the project would be rolled out across the state within three to six months.

The project is the outcome of the AI4 Andhra Police Hackathon, India’s first police-specific AI innovation event held in June 2025, which saw participation from over 200 innovators.

Following the hackathon, the department appointed Surya Kotha, CEO of US-based 4sightAI, as Knowledge Partner to lead the AI journey and build a Police Large Language Model. An MoU was also signed with Sparity, while the winning teams were taken on board to convert prototypes into production-ready solutions.
