Vijayawada: An AI-driven healthcare summit and the grand finale of the ‘MedTech Challenge Grand’ will be held at Mangalagiri on Tuesday, bringing together policymakers, medical experts, innovators and startup representatives on a common platform to showcase technology-driven healthcare solutions.

Around 300 participants, including representatives from startup firms, healthcare agencies, officials from the Centre and State governments and experts from allied sectors, are expected to attend the event.

As part of the summit, startup companies that implemented AI-based services in government hospitals under pilot projects will present live demonstrations and share their experiences in deploying healthcare technologies.

Health minister Satyakumar Yadav will distribute cash incentives to winning startups selected under the MedTech Challenge Grand programme.

Under the AP MedTech Innovation Challenge initiative, 18 startup firms provided services in government hospitals across four categories — diagnostic tools, portable point-of-care devices, smart monitoring and wearables, and remote care and telemedicine solutions.

Over a period of 37 days, the startups served nearly 15,000 patients under the supervision of doctors. The innovations focused on tuberculosis detection, eye screening, cervical cancer screening, neonatal respiratory complications, cardiac ailments and AI-powered medical scribing systems.

The Committee for Applied Technologies in Health (CATH) will evaluate the outcomes and select winners across all four categories during the event scheduled around 6 pm on Tuesday.

Officials said the AI-driven pilot healthcare services, introduced in line with the vision of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, have shown encouraging results.

A separate session on best practices in AI use in healthcare will feature experts and policymakers from India and abroad.

Among those expected to participate are National Health Authority Joint Secretary Kiran Gopal Vaska, Govin Capital (Singapore) founder and CEO Dr Anand Govindaluri, Association of Physicians of India representative Dr V.V.S. Prabhakar, Redix Infinite (Toronto) senior vice-president Srinivasa Subrahmanyam, Health Secretary Saurabh Gaur, Health and Family Welfare Commissioner Ganesan Veerapandian and Director of Secondary Health Chakradhar Babu.
