AI Centre of Excellence Launched to Boost Andhra Pradesh's DeepTech Ecosystem

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh took another major step towards becoming a leading Artificial Intelligence (AI) and DeepTech innovation hub with the launch of the AI Centre of Excellence (AI CoE) by the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub (RTIH).

Speaking at the inaugural programme, RTIH and Andhra Pradesh Innovation Society (APIS) CEO P. Dhatri Reddy said the AI Centres of Excellence at Amaravati and Visakhapatnam, sanctioned by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in collaboration with the State's Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (ITE&C) Department, would position Andhra Pradesh as a preferred destination for AI-driven innovation.

She said the centres would provide startups with advanced infrastructure, expert mentoring, technology commercialisation support and market linkages while promoting collaboration among academia, industry and research institutions.

Delivering the keynote address, SRM University Director of Incubation and Innovation Ananth Kumar stressed the need to bridge gaps in mentorship, technology transfer and commercialisation to transform DeepTech research into successful enterprises.

Speakers, including Tamil Nadu AI Association Executive Director C. Aarthi Ram, Starbuzz.ai Founder and CEO Krishna Priya Akella and VIT-AP University's Dr Ganesh Reddy Karri, highlighted customer-centric innovation, startup support, GPU computing, investor access and industry-academia collaboration.

Officials said the initiative would accelerate AI innovation, nurture startups and strengthen Andhra Pradesh's technology ecosystem, reinforcing the State's ambition to emerge as a national leader in AI and DeepTech.
