Advanced Skills Vital For Paediatric Emergency Care
Kurnool Medical College and the Indian Academy of Pediatrics jointly organised a two-day training programme to improve doctors’ skills in managing life-threatening emergencies in children.
Kurnool Medical College principal and Additional Director of Medical Education Dr K. Chitti Narasamma has stressed the need for paediatricians to acquire advanced medical skills to manage emergencies involving children and save lives.
She was speaking after inaugurating a two-day training programme on Paediatric Advanced Life Support Skills for paediatricians and postgraduate students at the Skills Development Lab of Kurnool Medical College on Saturday. The programme was jointly organised by the college’s paediatrics department and the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP).
Dr Narasamma said paediatricians should be equipped with the latest skills and knowledge to respond effectively to critical medical conditions in children. She assured participants that the college would extend full support to skill development, medical research and innovation.
Hospital superintendent Dr K. Venkateswarlu said the paediatrics department received emergency cases from four to five districts, making specialised training important for doctors treating critically ill children.
He said the programme would help paediatricians improve their ability to manage emergencies and provide timely treatment. Doctors should regularly update their knowledge and adopt advanced medical practices to improve patient outcomes, he added.
The two-day programme aims to strengthen the clinical skills of paediatricians and postgraduate students in managing life-threatening emergencies involving children.
