3 Members Of Family Die Under Suspicious Circumstances

Visakhapatnam: Three members of a family – a mother and her two children (son and daughter) – were found dead on the rail track under suspicious circumstances between Palasa and Talabhadra in Srikakulam district.

The deceased persons have been identified as Gedela Poojitha (Pooja) and her son Kushant and her daughter Deekshita – all natives of the Chalamayapeta locality under Kotabommali mandal in the district.

Pooja was a native of the Bhavanapadu locality in the district, and she married Venkata Rao (an electrician by profession) around eight years ago. The couple has two children. The family members of Pooja alleged that Venkata Rao was addicted to liquor and allegedly harassed his wife. Pooja was also mentally harassed by her in-laws.

The family members of Pooja alleged that Venkata Rao and his family members were responsible for the deaths of the trio, and they raised doubts over the cause of deaths, citing they could be murders.

The railway police shifted the bodies to the Palasa government hospital for post-mortem.

Srinu of GVMC demanded and accepted a bribe of `30,000 from the complainant Karakana Prasanna Kumar for doing an official favour by processing and sanctioning the pension and other related bills/benefits of the complainant’s aunt Vennu Chinnathalli.

The accused officer was being arrested and produced before the special judge for ACB cases, Visakhapatnam.

Constable jumps into Godavari River

A constable of the Third Battalion, Kakinada, Chadramalla Vamsi, 32, a native of Srirampuram village in Rajanagaram mandal of East Godavari district, is suspected to have jumped into the Godavari River on Friday.

According to two town police, before allegedly jumping into the river, Vamsi called his father, Venkata Rao, and informed him that he intended to end his life by jumping from the Road-cum-Rail Bridge under the limits of the two town police station.

Venkata Rao, along with police personnel, rushed to the spot and found Vamsi's motorcycle and footwear near the bridge. Based on the circumstances, police suspect that he jumped into the river. A search operation has been launched to trace him.

Preliminary investigation suggests that personal issues related to a love affair may have driven him to take the extreme step. According to sources, Vamsi was in a relationship with a woman constable. However, due to certain reasons, he was reportedly preparing to marry another woman. The woman constable is said to have lodged a complaint at the DISHA Police Station. Unable to cope with the resulting stress, Vamsi is believed to have taken the extreme step, police said. Further investigation is underway.
