3 Held With 220 Kg Ganja Worth ₹1.1 Crore In Anakapalli

VISAKHAPATNAM: Anakapalli district police seized 220 kg of ganja worth about ₹1.1 crore and arrested three persons after intercepting two luxury cars at Gudivada Junction on the Ravikamatham-Anakapalli road.

The operation, carried out on July 15 under the supervision of district superintendent of police Tuhin Sinha and sub-division in-charge DSP G.R.R. Mohan, was led by Kothakota circle inspector G. Koteswara Rao. Ravikamatham police intercepted the vehicles during routine checks based on specific intelligence.

The arrested were identified as Killo Timothy, 26, of Gauduputtu village in Pedabayalu mandal, Alluri Sitarama Raju district, Sheikh Mohammad Rafi, 26, of Sattenapalli in Palnadu district and Sheikh Fayaz, 19, also of Sattenapalli.

Police said Timothy agreed to supply the ganja to Rafi, who planned to sell it to a contact in Tamil Nadu. Investigation revealed that Rafi had earlier purchased 50 kg of ganja from Timothy and sold it in Hosur. On this occasion, he allegedly paid an advance of ₹1.50 lakh for the 220 kg consignment.

Three other occupants of the cars and two associates on a motorcycle escaped. A case has been registered at Ravikamatham police station under the NDPS Act, and special teams have been formed to trace the absconding suspects. Further investigation was underway.
