3-Day Food Safety Training for Eateries Begins at Tirumala

Tirupati: A three-day training programme on food hygiene and safety for hotel staff and fast-food vendors commenced at Tirumala on Tuesday to promote safe food practices and protect the health of pilgrims.
Organised jointly by the TTD health department, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and Nestlé India, the programme is being attended by representatives of around 325 food establishments and nearly 1,300 food handlers.
Inaugurating the programme, TTD additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary stressed the importance of providing hygienic food to the thousands of devotees visiting Tirumala daily. He urged food establishments to follow prescribed hygiene standards and conduct regular food safety audits.
The official said private eateries should adopt the same stringent hygiene practices followed in the preparation and distribution of TTD’s Annaprasadam. He also suggested conducting similar training programmes every six months to strengthen awareness among food handlers.
Safety kits containing caps, gloves, aprons and soaps were distributed to participants during the programme. Senior TTD officials, health department representatives and food vendors attended the event.
