Chefs from 17 star-category hotels will compete in the second edition of ‘Flavours of Vizag – Star Chef Challenge 2026’ on October 16, showcasing traditional seafood recipes and Andhra coastal cuisine.
The Hotels and Restaurants Association of Andhra Pradesh (HRAAP) will organise the event at the Sun International Institute of Tourism and Management, Beach Campus, Sagar Nagar, in association with the Andhra Pradesh Star Hotels Association (ASHA) and the Chefs Association of Telangana and Andhra (CATA).
Themed ‘Authentic Local Seafood and Traditional Recipes’, the competition aims to preserve the region’s culinary heritage and promote Visakhapatnam as a seafood tourism destination.
Joint collector G. Vidyadhari unveiled the event poster on Wednesday in the presence of District Tourism Officer J. Madhavi, APTDC Divisional Manager G. Jagadish, Excise Superintendent Prasad, HRAAP president Pavan Kartheek and tourism officials.
The competition will feature two categories — Best Traditional Seafood Starter and Best Traditional Seafood Main Course — with prizes for the top three entries in each. A panel of culinary experts, including CATA founder and general secretary Chef G. Yadagiri, will judge the dishes.
Kartheek said authentic seafood experiences could showcase Visakhapatnam’s culinary traditions and strengthen its tourism appeal. He urged the hospitality industry to work together to establish the city as a leading coastal food destination.
The event is part of the celebrations leading up to International Chefs Day on October 20 and aims to promote local cuisine, tourism and the hospitality sector.
