HC to hear PIL on Naidu cases again on Oct. 26

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday heard a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking the transfer of cases registered against TDP national president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Lisa Gill and Justice Gunaranjan heard the petition.

Senior counsel Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (APCID), argued that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) had filed final reports before the ACB court stating that no evidence had been found in the cases registered against Naidu. Based on the reports, the ACB court had ordered the closure of the cases, he submitted.

He further argued that some individuals had filed review petitions challenging the closure of the cases and contended that the PIL had become infructuous and should be dismissed.

However, counsel for the petitioner sought an adjournment, stating that the senior counsel was unable to attend the hearing. After hearing both sides, the court adjourned the matter to October 26 for further hearing.
