Nellore: District officials on Tuesday called upon government employees to serve the public with sincerity, compassion and integrity while distributing promotion orders to 110 village revenue officers (VROs) in Nellore district.

At a programme held at Tikkana Praanganam in the collectorate, 110 VROs working in village secretariats were promoted from Grade-II to Grade-I, marking one of the biggest such promotion drives in the district.

Addressing the gathering, collector Himanshu Shukla said resolving public grievances should remain the foremost responsibility of every employee. He urged officials to treat people approaching government offices with respect and dedication and uphold public trust through disciplined and transparent service.

Warning against corruption and irregularities, the collector noted that in today’s digital era, even minor mistakes quickly attract public scrutiny through social media, damaging both personal and institutional credibility.

“Only when we feel satisfied that we have contributed some good to society can we truly justify our service,” Shukla said.

The promoted VROs thanked the government and district administration for extending promotions to secretariat VROs for the first time.

Joint collector Mogili Venkateswarlu, DRO Vijay Kumar, administrative officer Srinivasulu and tahsildar Daniel Peter attended the programme.
