105 Ponds To Be Beautified At ₹50 Crore: Pawan Kalyan

KAKINADA: Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan has said beautification works for 105 ponds across the state have been taken up at a cost of ₹50 crore with financial support from the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY).
Pawan Kalyan said more than half works had been completed and the remaining were in progress. He said all the ponds would be beautified by the end of September.
He visited Pithapuram constituency on Monday and inaugurated the beautification of Mysamma Cheruvu, a walking track, children's park and open-air gym at Fakruddinpalem village at a cost of ₹73 lakh. A flagpole was installed to foster a sense of patriotism.
Pawan Kalyan also unveiled a plaque commemorating the development of 11 other tanks in the constituency and viewed a display showcasing the 14 tanks developed in the constituency.
He said Mysamma Cheruvu had been developed as a model project with the aim of transforming rural ponds from water sources into community spaces for recreation and health. He visited the gallery showcasing the 14 ponds and enquired about the large trees, their age and scientific names.
Pawan Kalyan said the beautified ponds would provide rural residents with spaces for relaxation and recreation and contribute to their health and well-being.
The Deputy CM had darshan of Maisamma Goddess and offered silk clothes. He also inspected the newly constructed statue of Lord Shiva accompanied by Nandi, being installed in the middle of the tank. At the invitation of villagers, he visited the Vinayaka temple in Fakruddinpalem.
Pawan Kalyan interacted with villagers and inspected village amenities, the village secretariat building and the waste-to-wealth centre. He also reviewed the arrangements for separate bins for wet and dry waste and enquired about their operation.
He inaugurated the Pithikapura Vanam urban forest, developed to increase greenery and provide a healthy environment for people in Pithapuram town and constituency. He planted a sapling and unveiled a plaque marking the inauguration.
The urban forest was developed over six acres at a cost of nearly ₹1.83 crore under the central government's Nagar Van Yojana scheme. The site was earlier a dumping yard.
Pawan Kalyan also visited a Miyawaki forest plantation spread across 70 cents, a butterfly park and a pond within the urban forest. The Miyawaki forest was developed by planting a large number of saplings in a compact area to create green cover.
The Deputy CM said urban forests were being developed in various towns across the state with the support of the central government's Nagar Van Yojana scheme. He said he had inaugurated 18 such urban forests at a cost of ₹ 36 crore in the state.
