Youth’s Leg Severed Following Dispute In Odisha Village, Tension Prevails

Bhubaneswar: A youth allegedly had his leg severed in an attack following a dispute rooted in previous enmity at Dangamara village under Kantabanji police limits in Odisha’s Bolangir district on Saturday, triggering tension in the area.
The injured youth, identified as Baladev Banchhor, was allegedly attacked with a sharp-edged weapon during an altercation with a group of persons, according to reports.
Police said the altercation was preceded by a dispute between Baladev and the accused over an earlier issue. The argument reportedly escalated, following which the accused allegedly attacked him, causing severe injuries to his leg.
Baladev was initially rushed to the Kantabanji hospital. As his condition deteriorated, doctors referred him to Raipur for specialised treatment. He was subsequently shifted to a hospital in the neighbouring Chhattisgarh capital.
The attack led to tension in Dangamara, with police personnel deployed in the village as a precautionary measure to prevent any further confrontation.
Kantabanji police launched an investigation and were conducting raids to trace and apprehend those allegedly involved in the attack.
Police were also investigating the circumstances that led to the altercation and the motive behind the attack. Further details were awaited.
