Two students at a private residential school in Banda died after reportedly falling seriously ill after eating momos with chutney at their hostel.

Two young students at a private residential school in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district died after reportedly falling seriously ill following a meal at their hostel, police said.

The deceased were identified as 12-year-old Nitin and eight-year-old Arun Kumar. According to preliminary information, the children reportedly consumed momos with chutney at the hostel before their health deteriorated.

The school management immediately rushed the two students to a hospital after they fell ill. Despite medical efforts, doctors could not save them.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Shivraj said an investigation was underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Authorities are examining the events leading up to the incident, including the food consumed by the children.

The deaths have raised concerns over food safety and the health and safety arrangements at residential educational institutions. Further details are awaited as investigators conduct their examination.

Police said appropriate action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
