Sai Condemns Kulgam Terror Attack, Announces Rs 20 Lakh Ex-Gratia Each To 2 Slain Labourers From Chhattisgarh
The chief minister, who arrived here after his two-day-visit to Delhi, called the terrorist attack on the migrant workers in south Kashmir, a ‘crime against humanity’, and said that such acts of terror have no place in any civilized society.
Raipur: Chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Saturday condemned the July 31 terrorist attack in Kulgam district in south Kashmir in which two migrant labourers from Chhattisgarh were killed, saying that ‘targeting civilians is a crime against humanity’.
Mr. Sai announced an ex-gratia of Rs 20 lakh each to the families of the two slain workers and said that his government will extend every possible assistance to them during this difficult time.

The two slain labourers have been identified as Deepak Ratre, hailing from Sakti district, and Bhupendra Bhaina, a resident of Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district.
The terrorists sprayed bullets on the two migrant workers in Kulgam after asking them to identify themselves.
Mr. Sai said that he immediately directed senior state officials to coordinate with the Jammu and Kashmir administration after receiving information about the incident.
He said that the state government will appoint a nodal officer to maintain close coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir authorities and oversee all assistance being provided to the affected families.
State Congress president Deepak Baij also severely condemned the terrorist attack in Kulgam and demanded that the government provide compensation of Rs one crore each to the families of the two deceased and make arrangements to bring the bodies to Chhattisgarh.
The chief minister meanwhile described his Delhi visit ‘very successful’, saying that it promised to yield several developmental projects for the state.
Mr. Sai presented ‘Bastar Vision 2.0’, a blueprint for development of Bastar post-Maoist period, to prime minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Delhi.
He urged the PM to expedite the proposal for the electrification of 461 villages, which are yet to get electricity connection, in Bastar, besides other proposed industrial and infrastructure projects in Chhattisgarh.
