YSRC state youth secretary Rahul Chakravarthy Reddy on Sunday alleged that democracy in Andhra Pradesh was under threat due to the coalition government's "anti-democratic" policies and accused it of attempting to influence the electoral process for political gain.

Speaking to the media after meeting YSRC MP P.V. Mithun Reddy, Rahul claimed that the government was misusing the Systematic Identification/Removal (SIR) process to target voters perceived to be opposed to the ruling alliance. He alleged that deleting names from electoral rolls for political advantage amounted to undermining a constitutional institution and posed a serious threat to democracy.

Describing the right to vote as a sacred constitutional right, Rahul questioned the government's authority to remove voters' names and alleged that such actions reflected dictatorial tendencies. He urged the coalition government to respect the people's mandate instead of manipulating the electoral process.

The YSRC leader also accused the government of failing to fulfil its much-publicised "Super Six" promises despite being in office for two years. He alleged that the coalition was attempting to divert public attention from governance failures by focusing on voter list revisions.

Rahul further claimed that law and order had deteriorated in the State and said the YSRC would continue to oppose what it termed political conspiracies while standing with the people and exposing alleged injustices.
