NRR Predicts BJP Sweep in Civic Polls
BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao expressed confidence that the party would win the upcoming municipal elections in Hyderabad, Malkajgiri and Cyberabad.
BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao on Sunday said his party was confident of winning the upcoming municipal elections in Hyderabad, Malkajgiri and Cyberabad, and asserted that BJP mayors would assume office in all three corporations.
Speaking after inaugurating a newly built BJP office at Vivekananda Nagar — a property donated by former municipal chairman and party leader Hanumanth Rao — Rao described the premises as “not merely an office but a temple of public service.” He said the new facility would serve as the party’s strategic hub for securing major victories in Sherilingampally and Kukatpally constituencies and urged workers to mobilise vigorously for the polls.
Rao criticised both the previous BRS and the present Congress administrations for neglecting civic issues, saying the GHMC had failed to address urban problems. He accused the two parties of ignoring pre‑monsoon flood‑prevention measures and demanded that the state and GHMC explain why even minor rains were paralysing traffic despite deficit rainfall linked to El Niño.
He alleged that Congress and BRS had prioritised political arrangements with the MIM over development, adding that public frustration would translate into support for the BJP. On the Kaleshwaram project, he accused both parties of staging a political “drama” instead of taking responsibility.
At a separate protest meeting at Indira Park’s Dharna Chowk organised by midday‑meal workers and agency unions, Rao expressed solidarity with their demands. He urged the state government to resolve the claims of about 54,000 workers who prepare school meals under the Central scheme.
Rao criticised the Congress government for failing to honour its manifesto promise of a ₹10,000 monthly honorarium, noting that workers still receive ₹3,000 irregularly with arrears pending. He called for immediate credit of the promised stipend and arrears to workers’ bank accounts and said he would personally write to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy seeking a speedy resolution.
