Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday constituted the Kodangal Area Development Authority (Kada), to ensure the overall development of his home constituency of Kodangal.

Kada will cover areas in Vikarabad and Narayanpet districts as well, while the head office will be located in Kodangal, which falls under the Vikarabad district, and the collector of Vikarabad will lead this new authority.

The Chief Minister also decided to appoint a special officer for Kada to work under the district collector in making a detailed plan for the development. Officers will help in making better roads, drains, water systems and electricity infrastructure in the districts.

Revanth Reddy has won from the Kodangal Assembly constituency thrice: In the 2009 and 2014 elections on a TD ticket, and the 2023 Assembly polls by defeating BRS candidate Patnam Narender Reddy by a margin of over 32,800 votes. While he lost in 2018 to BRS’ Narender Reddy, his win this year spurred his ascent to the post of Chief Minister.

Kada’s brief includes the implementation of livelihood and employment initiatives aimed at increasing productivity and creating employment opportunities, through skill development and training.

Revanth Reddy's predecessor K. Chandrashekar Rao, who served two terms as the Chief Minister from 2014 to 2023 representing the Gajwel Assembly constituency, had constituted Gajwel Area Development Authority (Gada), led by an IAS officer, for the development of his constituency.
