Raipur: Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishu Deo Sai on Wednesday said that the Khelo India Tribal Games, being hosted by the state, has brought to fore the hidden talents among the tribal communities.
During his interaction with visiting Union minister of state for youth affairs and sports here, Mr. Sai said that Chhattisgarh is endowed with abundant talent, and the need of the hour is to provide adequate opportunities, resources and robust platforms to enable these abilities to flourish.
The first Khelo India Tribal Games commenced on March 25 and is set to close on April three.
Chhattisgarh has hosted the first Khelo India Tribal Games.
The chief minister said that the state government is consistently working to nurture talent through sports and cultural initiatives, ensuring their progression to the national stage.
Referring to the recently held Bastar and Surguja Olympics in the tribal belt of Chhattisgarh, he said that these events have imparted a distinct identity to the state.
These events have brought numerous hidden talents to the fore, instilling confidence among the participants.
He said that the government is committed to further refining these skills through enhanced training and necessary infrastructural support.
Describing hosting of the Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 as a matter of pride for the state, he said that the event would infuse fresh energy among the youth of tribal regions.
Mr. Sai said that with Bastar increasingly integrating into the mainstream and the restoration of peace in the region, youth participation in sports is poised to witness a significant rise in the coming years.
