TRS govt took kickbacks in Kaleshwaram, says Komatireddy Venkata Reddy

Hyderabad: Telangana Congress MP Komatireddy Venkata Reddy on Tuesday alleg-ed that the TRS government had awarded the construction of the Kale-shwaram irrigation project to Andhra Pradesh-based  contractors to get commissions from them.

He alleged that there was swindling of Rs 10,000 crore in the name of increasing the capacity of the Kaleshwaram project by 1 tmc ft.

If the state government had provided Rs 200 crore, the Srisailam tunnel could be completed but the it was not allotting funds, he said, adding that the TRS government did not release funds to the Brahmana Vellamala project only to deny him credit.

Mr Reddy also demanded that the state government give powers to gram sarpanches to sign cheques. He said the Congerss would win the Legislative Council election from the Nalgonda local bodies constituency as well as the polls in most municipalities. People in municipal areas were facing drinking water shortage, but there was no municipal minister to address the problem, he said.

Mr Reddy that said with the defeat of Ms K. Kavitha and Mr B. Vinod Kumar in the Lok Sabha elections, TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has “lost his two eyes.” He said that the three Congress MPs from the state would do what the 14 TRS MPs in the previous House could not do.
