Bengaluru: Did Chief Minister, B.S. Yediyurappa delete some names from the list of 17 approved by the party's central leadership and include a few candidates of his own for inclusion in the Cabinet?

Some BJP leaders seem to think so as they don't believe the party high command would select Mr Laxman Savadi, who lost the assembly election or Mr C.C. Patil, a sitting MLA.

And they contend that after Mr Basavaraj Bommai, who was present when Mr Yediyurappa received the list, left in a huff on seeing the names, the Chief Minister took the risk of making some changes to suit his loyalists.

An annoyed high command then immediately announced Mr Nalin Kumar Kateel as state unit president to clip his wings, they maintain. Mr Yediyurappa, who was caught off-guard, left for Delhi to meet the party's central leaders and finalise the portfolios of candidates."He was also perhaps trying to convince them about his choice of candidates," said one leader.

But the Chief Minister's  supporters feel the theory is far-fetched and he would never do this in the present political circumstances.  "He would have told the central leadership that he needed to change a few names and how it would benefit the government and the party on the very day  that he received the list and not wait till now," they said.
