Losing Kuttiadi; a shocker for LDF

KOZHIKODE: Kuttiadi, after it was formed remapping former Meppayur, was considered a comfort zone of the Left, until yesterday. CPM’s K.K. Lathika had won from Meppayur and she had repeated her victory in the first election after the constituency was formed.

However, towards the last phase of electioneering, there were reports that with the choice of an ideal candidate against her, the UDF appeared safe. The constituency also showed leniency to the UDF in the Lok Sabha elections. But the LDF camp never expected to lose this time to the UDF, especially when fielding a strong candidate.
