Thiruvananthapuram: RSS chief Mohan Bhagawat, who is on a two- day visit to Palakkad for the RSS meetings (baithak), held talks with former BJP state president P. S. Sreedharan Pillai on Monday.  The other top BJP leaders attending  the baithak are Mr M. Ganesh, RSS nominee in the party, who acts as BJP general secretary, and also Mr B. Gopalakrishnan, Thrissur-based BJP state secretary.

Mr Bhagwat asked the three leaders to further strengthen the RSS in the state. RSS state secretary and prantha karyavahak P. Gopalankutty Master  attended the baithak. There are 4,500 daily RSS shakhas which have nearly four lakh members. Mr Gopalankutty Master told DC that out of them nearly two lakh are active members.

“Usually,  BJP leaders are not invited for the RSS baithak. But this time, Sreedharan Pillai was invited  and other top leaders were ignored as the RSS is  unhappy with the medical college scam,” said a party source.

Mr Bhagwat will hoist the flag at the local government school on the  Independence Day on Tuesday.
