THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala has demanded a CBI inquiry into the alleged illegal investments made in the Sreevalsam group by the former UDF ministers, including he himself.    In a letter to  Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, he denied his own role while he was home minister or that of other  UDF leaders in the group.  Mr  Chennithala said that only a CBI probe would clear the doubts on the matter. He alleged that CPI Alappuzha district secretary (T. J. Anjalose), had raised vague allegations against him.

“The people should know why the  CPI had made such charges,” he said.   “The allegations are totally baseless. There is no link  between the dropped Haripad medical college and the Sreevalsam group. The Left leaders are spreading  false allegations against the previous UDF ministry,”  said Mr Chennithala.    He also demanded that if not the CBI,  another high-level agency should be entrusted with the inquiry.
