VIJAYAWADA: Government adviser and YSR Congress general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said on Friday that Telugu Desam chief Chandrababu Naidu is misinterpreting the results of the panchayat elections. The TD has won only 510 seats while the YSRC-supported candidates won over 2,640 seats, he said.

Addressing the media here, Ramakrishna Reddy said Naidu was habituated to putting the blame for his flaws on others and “there is nothing new in his recent allegations against SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh in the conduct of the gram panchayat elections.”

“Chandrababu claims TD supporters won over 38 per cent of the seats in the first phase and also says the SEC had failed to conduct the elections in a fair manner. He has even written a letter seeking central observers to conduct the polls,” Sajjala said and questioned Naidu as to what he would gain from making such baseless allegations.

Ramakrishna Reddy said the YSRC proved its claim by displaying the candidates' pictures on ‘ysrcppolls.in’ website. All the 2,640 candidates who won in the first phase, the pictures of 2,616 candidates and details of 24 rebel candidates were uploaded on the site, he said.

He said about 90 per cent of the YSRC-supported candidates will win the panchayat elections in the next phases, as Chief Minister Jagan fulfilled every poll promise and won massive praise through launch of various welfare schemes.

Reddy said no one would believe in Chandrababu Naidu’s allegations against the SEC, who indeed went against the state government by misusing his constitutional powers and putting the government officials under psychological stress.

The YSRC general secretary alleged that the TD platform was getting vacant as “the candidates are leaving and there is no use listening to Chandrababu’s monologues and zoom meetings.”
