NELLORE: Former Udayagiri legislator Bollineni Ramarao said that he would quit politics permanently if the ruling party leaders prove that he executed the contract works of Pulichintala project.

Addressing the media here on Monday, Ramarao accused water resources minister P. Anilkumar Yadav and a media house of mudslinging and distorting facts with regard to the Pulichintala project.

Reminding that the project had started when Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy was Chief Minister, he demanded to know how he would get the contract being a TD leader.

Admitting that his firm’s name was Srinivasa Constructions, he said that he executed contract works in the neighbouring states but not in Andhra Pradesh.

He said that it became a practice for a particular media house to carry out false propaganda while referring to reports on his role behind the Rs 280 crore corruption published in that newspaper in 2017.

Referring to the illegal transportation of sand to the extent of Rs 150 crore attributed to him, he said that Penna River is not in Udayagiri while demanding to know the details of sand availability in the segment.

He said he would be compelled to file a defamation case against the media house if they continue to level baseless charges against him.
